Symbolism
These beads were made to honor the Bábí and Bahá’í martyrs. The lined deep red seed beads that run the length of the prayer beads represent the veins of the mortal body that carry “life’s energy”. The spots in the Poppy Jasper symbolize the blood shed by these dear souls. Although we may not experience physical martyrdom, these martyrs stand to remind us how important it is to consecrate one’s life to service in the Cause. The two crystals signify the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh as twin Manifestations. The green jade bead symbolizes the Báb as a siyyid — a descendant of the Prophet Mohammed. The nine-pointed star represents the Bahá’í Era.

Materials

Set of 5 beads: Poppy Jasper.
Set of 19 beads: highest quality glass from the Czech Republic.
Bead cord: a German product made from silk or polyamid—materials that provide durability with minimal stretching.
Siyyid tail: the two clear beads are Swarowski Austrian lead crystals; the green bead is either Chinese or Taiwanese Jade.
Nine-pointed star: sterling silver.
